opportunities for Youth
These three contests begin at the club level for high school junior or seniors. Contest rules, applications, and necessary forms are emailed to each lead counselor or secretary the beginning of September when our State Chairpersons release them.
A student may enter more than one contest. Deadline for entries to the counselor is the 2nd Monday of December so a mini contest may be held if more than one student in our RRISD applies. We must have our winner’s application and complete information sent to our District Chairperson by the Winter Break.
The first competition will be held at our Mid-Winter Conference in mid-January. Those winners must attend the State Convention, which will be at College Station May of 2015.
The District scholarship is $500 first place and $250 second place. Those winners have the opportunity to win $3,000 and $1,000 respectfully at the State level.
